Linda Leatherbarrow in colourHello, welcome to my website.Shop Page

I’m a Scottish born writer, reviewer and retired Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing. I’m represented by Karolina Sutton at the literary agency Curtis Brown.

I’ve written two collections of literary short prose fiction: Essential Kit, published by Maia in 2004, and Funny Things, Families, published in 2015. Both collections contain my prize-winning short stories as well as those previously published in magazines and anthologies, or broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

I am three times 1st Prize winner of the London Writers Competition and have won other prizes and awards, including a Bridport Prize, an Arts Council Award, and the Hay on Wye Short Story Prize. I’ve given readings of my work at the ICA in London, as well as in universities and arts centres across the country.

For the previous ten years, I’ve been writing articles about my favourite books and authors for the literary review Slightly Foxed; these articles are collected in the digital book Ten Slightly Foxed Years. From 2009 to 2011, I interviewed contemporary women authors, including Audrey Niffenegger and Susan Hill, for NewBooks magazine. The collected interviews are available as a digital book The Interviews.

In 2010, after many years of living and working in London, I moved back to south west Scotland where I continue to write.
